Heritage
On their historic journey to the Pacific Ocean in the winter of 1805, Lewis and Clark passed the rocky bluffs where St. Helens now stands. Many old sailing ships stopped in the area to trade with the Natives during the fur trading era. Warrior Rock Lighthouse, which sits on the tip of nearby Sauvie Island, was built in 1889 and holds the distinction of being the oldest fog bell in the Pacific Northwest and the only lighthouse on a river.

olde Town is the place to be on summer evenings. On Thursdays, kick back in Columbia View Park and enjoy a free, live concert while you watch the ships sail by on the river. On Fridays, catch a free old movie in the same spot. Bring the family to experience nature in the many parks in St. Helens.

Head down to the public docks to fish, or put your kayak in and head to Sand Island, a city park accessible only by boat or seasonal shuttle. Celebrate Your Independence
St. Helens hosts the largest 4th of July fireworks display on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. Music, food vendors and a variety of merchants join the fun to make the 4th of July a memorable day for families and friends.
