Clatskanie
Heritage
Clatskanie got its name from an Indian term for streams taken in route to Tlats-kani, an area in the hills south of the Clatskanie River.
T.J. Flippin, logger and sawmill owner, commissioned "The Flippin Castle" which was built around 1898 by Markwell & Sons in the hills of Clatskanie. Today, the historic castle is maintained by the Clatskanie Senior Center and serves as a museum.

Follow Lewis & Clark
The Lewis & Clark Heritage Canoe Trail begins at the Clatskanie City Park and winds along the Clatskanie River. A network of sloughs offer a variety of scenic paddling experiences for all skill levels. The park features a public boat ramp, swimming pool, sports field, skatepark, playground, picnic and campsites with restrooms and showers.

Clatskanie's Historic Business District offers dining, shopping, antiquing and plenty of sightseeing.
Read a Book
The Children's Reading Pavilion in the Clatskanie Library Parkway was designed and created by local chain saw artist Susan Miller. The roof is shaped like an open book and the supports are carved to depict favorite children's stories. Bring the family.
